Community Raised $1,520 for Clear Lake School District Athletics Program Through the FastBreak 5K Fun Run/Walk
Clear Lake, Wis. (July 15, 2014) – Clear Lake Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists (CLPTRS) was honored to collaborate with 13 other businesses and host the FastBreak 5k on June 28, 2014. The walk/run not only promoted healthy lifestyles in the community, but also raised funds for the Clear Lake School District Athletics Program, ensuring our young athletes have the proper equipment and training they need to avoid injury and stay in the game.
The 2014 FastBreak 5k was a huge success. Although the morning was humid and muggy, there were 34 dedicated individuals who still registered the day of the race. Overall, there were 81 runners involved and a total of $1,520 was raised between participant and sponsorship money. Sponsoring businesses included:
- CB Styles
- Lillie Couch Insurance
- Unipunch Products Inc.
- Overby Financial
- True Value
- AFP Advanced Food Products
- Clear Lake Clinic/Amery Medical Center
- Sports & More
- SCS Coating Center
- Hay River Therapeutic Massage
- Clear Lake Telephone Co
Those involved with the race were proud of the results, as there was an 8% increase in the proceeds and involvement from the previous year. “The FastBreak 5k is definitely a great opportunity for the Clear Lake community to get out and do something healthy,” said Rebekah Scherz of CLPTRS. “It’s also a great way for community members to help out our youth in the high school athletic department. I think seeing the response and support of so many is really empowering to the students,” she continued.
The race started and finished at Clear Lake High School. The top racers included Erich Ulrich, who finished first in the men’s division at 19:12 minutes, and Jayme Wyss, who finished first in the women’s division at 20:14 minutes. Congratulations, Erich and Jayme! In addition, to welcome friendly competition in the younger ages, the race offered a 400-meter dash. Each child that participated received his/her own special mini medal.
As CLPTRS was the primary organizer, the team would like to send a special shout-out to all businesses, students, coaches, and community members who volunteered their time to make the FastBreak a successful event.
