Clear Lake Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists “Crosses the Finish Line”; Donates Funds to Local High School

Clear Lake, Wis. (July 17, 2013) – Clear Lake Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists (PTRS) was excited to host the FastBreak 5k alongside thirteen other local businesses on June 29th to support our local youth athletes. All raised funds were donated to the Clear Lake High School Sports Medicine Program to ensure our children have the proper equipment and injury evaluation services required to remain healthy and “in the game.”

Clear Lake PTRS, which has been the organizing sponsor for the FastBreak 5k race for three consecutive years, was excited to “cross the finish line” with many of its community members. Overall, there were 75 participants registered, with several young children also participating in a 400-meter dash around the track following the event. Between participant and sponsorship money, $1,405 was raised for the High School Sports Medicine Program.

The event was truly a community-wide effort as thirteen other local businesses joined Clear Lake PTRS in donating money to cover race costs and providing bananas and water to runners following the race. In addition, the coaches and athletes from Clear Lake High School volunteered their time to help with course directions, tracking race times, and manning the water station.

Melissa Waytashek, Athletic Trainer at both Clear Lake PTRS and Clear Lake High School, was excited to be a part of the event. “This year, some of the money will be used to fund athletic training services to the school’s athletic team [in addition to purchasing new equipment] as part of our new contract. I really enjoyed meeting members of the community and lending a helping hand to kick off the fun!” stated Melissa. When not providing services at Clear Lake PTRS, Melissa covers much of the high school’s sporting events to ensure our athletes are properly treated should an unexpected injury occur.

Clear Lake PTRS is proud to be a continuous supporter of our community and our young athletes’ futures. Keep an eye out for next year’s festivities – the staff would love to have the entire community come out and show their support as well!
