Clear Lake Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists Organizes FastBreak 5K Fun Run/Walk; All Proceeds to Be Donated to Clear Lake School District Athletics Programs
Clear Lake, Wis. (June 10, 2014) – High School sports promote healthy lifestyles at an early age, and teach children the lessons of persistence and teamwork. However, with sports costs on the rise, many schools struggle to keep their programs alive and running, while some are even charging students a “pay-to-play” fee. To ensure our local youth athletes have the opportunity to participate in athletics, Clear Lake Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists (Clear Lake PTRS) is excited to host the 2014 FastBreak 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, June 28, 2014. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Clear Lake School District Athletics Programs.
Clear Lake PTRS is eager to be the organizing sponsor of the FastBreak 5K for the 4th year in a row. Last year, there were 75 participants registered, with a total of $1,405 raised for the high school sports program. This year, Clear Lake PTRS and other sponsoring businesses hope to increase these numbers, with a goal of raising at least $2,000. “It’s important that we keep our high school sports programs strong and give them everything they need,” stated Rebekah Scherz, Front Desk Coordinator of Clear Lake PTRS and main organizer of this year’s event.
Every year, the FastBreak 5K is truly a community-wide event. At this time, there are 14 businesses collaborating with Clear Lake PTRS to donate money, bananas and water for the 2014 race. In addition, Clear Lake High School coaches and athletes plan to volunteer also, assisting with tracking race times and manning the hydration stations.
Everyone is invited to join the FastBreak 5K. The event will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 beginning at 8:00am. All races will start and finish at Clear Lake High School (1101 3rd Street NW, Clear Lake, WI 54005) with times recorded. An early registration fee for those wanting to participate is $15, and $5 for Clear Lake students with a school ID. Registration after June 20th and on race day is $20 for community members, and $10 for Clear Lake students with a school ID. All pre-registered participants are guaranteed a t-shirt. Those that register on race day will receive shirts on a first-come first-serve basis. Registration forms are available at www.clearlakept.net and on the Clear Lake PTRS Facebook page.
